England |
Call for Papers |
|
Hosted by AI-CBR and the British Computer Society
Specialist Group on Expert Systems & Applied Artificial Intelligence the 4th UK
Case-Base Reasoning Workshop will build on the previous three workshops by again combining
practical and theoretical issues of relevance to both academics and practitioners. The
workshop will be divided into three broad areas:
- papers on CBR applications
- papers on theoretical aspects of CBR
- presentations by CBR software vendors
|
|
Venue
The workshop will take place on Wednesday 15th. September 1999 at the Research &
Graduate College, University of Salford. The University of Salford is in Manchester in the
middle of the UK and has easy access
by car, bus, rail and air.
Contributions
Papers on practical and theoretical CBR
systems and research are invited. Papers containing new ideas and knowledge which can
stimulate discussion are encouraged as are papers describing fielded applications. In
addition, work in progress (such as doctoral research) is welcomed providing its status is
clearly indicated. Possible topics include but are not limited to:
- Applied CBR in industry or research (e.g., in customer support, design, education,
electronic commerce, knowledge management, manufacturing, medicine, engineering, etc.)
- Integration of CBR with other systems (i.e. hybrid systems)
- Case based data mining
- CBR system design issues (i.e., representation, retrieval, similarity assessment,
adaptation, and indexing)
- Knowledge acquisition, modelling, and management for CBR
- Methodologies for developing CBR applications (e.g., case acquisition, modelling,
maintenance and management)
- Case-based and instance-based learning
- CBR-related areas (e.g., knowledge management, corporate memories, decision support,
intelligent retrieval, information discovery and retrieval, and reuse)
- Cognitive aspects of CBR
- Analogical reasoning
Submissions
The numbers attending the workshop will be limited to a maximum of 40 to 50. To avoid
disappointment and to reduce the costs please submit papers and register as early as
possible!
