Here you will find a regular featured book (which you
can order online if you choose from amazon). We obviously will feature any new CBR books,
but will also feature other books that will be of interest to you. These will include
books on AI and machine learning, programming, the Internet and occasionally the odd book
just for fun (we all need some down time). |

People come to case-based reasoning from many
different starting places (I came from the knowledge-based systems and knowledge
acquisition fields), but regardless of how you came to case-based reasoning it's kinda
useful to know something about machine learning (ML). In fact there are compelling
arguements to say that CBR is a sub-discipline of ML. So if you weren't fortunate enough
to take a course on ML at college or just want to reinforce what you already know this is
the perfect book for you. Machine learning by Tom Mitchell is an excellent
introductory text covering:
- Concept Learning and General-to-Specific Ordering
- Decision Tree Learning
- Artificial Neural Networks
- Evaluating Hypotheses
- Bayesian Learning
- Computational Learning Theory
- Instance-Based Learning
- Genetic Algorithms
- Learning Sets of Rules
- Analytical Learning
- Combining Inductive and Analytical Learning
- Reinforcement Learning
- The book also provides access to on-line ML data and
code.
