origins of cbr

history

This section contains references that describe the evolution of Case-Based Reasoning and the conditions that led to its occurrence. It starts with the philosophical investigation of Wittgenstein in 1953 and leads on to the work of Roger Schank on dynamic memory and other associated memory models. It is also presents work and criticisms from both the cognitive and computer science communities that assisted the development of CBR theory. This includes psychological investigation and the relationship between human activity and reminding.

feasibility of cbr

This section contains references on works that consolidate the philosophical and psychological claims of the feasibility and the use of case-based reasoning to model realistic world problems as people do. In this context, it presents the advantages of CBR in relation to other reasoning paradigms such as rule-based and model-based reasoning through its success in performing complex tasks in various domains (e.g., legal, process control, history, planning, learning, tutoring, problem solving, explanation and prediction in strategic domains such as health, agriculture and education).
